'A Glimpse of Al-Qur'an-ul-Kaim' contains a brief comment on the introduction to each of the one hundred and fourteen Surah's of the Qur'an and the synopsis. It has been compiled to benefit of those who desire to grasp the meaning of the Qur'an. In the introduction to each Surah, in addition to the usual information regarding the background, the theme and the period of revelation of the Surah, a synopsis of the Surah has been provided, which may be characterized as follows: a) The synopsis of each Surah, on the one hand aims to provide a summary of the contents of the Surah and on the other it pinpoints the purport of each discourse in the Surah. b) Wherever possible cross references to other Ayat of the Qur'an dealing with the same theme or topic are provided in the synopsis of each Surah, thus enabling the reader to have a consolidated Quranic account of any particular subject mentioned in the Qur'an at different places. c) Each synopsis in its final shape provides useful material for khutbahs or lectures on any of the topics of the Surah. This may be of particular use in khutbahs of Jumu'ah prayers or in seminars of the Qur'anic studies and is thus designed to meet a standing need of one of the important activities of Islamic centres in the Western world. d) The length of the introduction of a Surah varies from Surah to Surah depending upon the historical background, if any, other explanatory matter related to the Surah and upon the length of the synopsis itself. e) The translation of any ayah if included in the introduction or the synopsis of a Surah is taken from the author's book, 'A Study of Al-Qur'an-ul-Karim'.
